• Feeding FAQ: 3-4 months – Breast Feeding

How can I get my 3 month daughter to take a bottle? We have been trying to get our daughter onto a bottle as I cannot carry on breast feeding her. She used to take the 10:30 am feed by bottle when she was 6-8 weeks old and would also take some at 10:30pm. She then became ill and was permanently on breast and since then she has refused to drink from the bottle. We try when she is half asleep and sometimes she might take a bit, most of the time she wakes up and gets upset if we try with a bottle. In the end we have to…

My 3mth son is constantly unhappy long before feeds are due and he finds it hard to settle to sleep We started the CLB routines when my son was 10 weeks old, and in order not to be too harsh, we put him on the 4-8 weeks routine first and gradually advanced to the 8-12 weeks routine. My son is always fretting after his morning nap. He never sleeps more than 45 minutes and is usually awake after 30 minutes. For the first time in 4 weeks after putting him on the routine, I gave him 40 ml expressed milk and 60 ml formula milk this morning (On normal days,…

My son of 15 weeks is still waking two or three times in the night I have a 3 year old son who was introduced to Gina’s routines after an awful first 2 months. It took 6 days of the routines until he slept through the night and he has been a contented child ever since – we never looked back and it was the best thing we ever did. So I know that Gina’s routines do work because I know that my eldest son was simply hideous before I put him into the routine but I am beginning to think that maybe it was a case of beginners luck…

  • Feeding FAQ: 3-4 months – Breast Feeding

My daughter of almost 4 months old has started to wake earlier in the night and needs feeding to settle her back to sleep. Up until 2 weeks ago, my daughter of almost 4 months old had been sleeping until 5am after her last feed of formula at 10:30pm. I had been following the core night method and she did manage to sleep through until 7am on two occasions. However, now she is waking up any time between 3am and 5am. She will no longer accept cool boiled water or a dummy but will only settle if I give her a full feed. Once I have fed her she will…

  • Feeding FAQ: 8-12 Weeks – Formula Feeding

My 10 week daughter will only take small feeds so wants to feed every 2 hours My 10 week daughter was breast fed for the first 2 weeks of her life then I changed to formula. The problem I have is that she will only take 4ozs max of formula at each feed. Consequently she is feeding every 2 hours. I have tried doing split feeds as you suggest but she rarely has more feed when I offer it again 20 minutes later. As a result of this her day time sleep is not working! My son was a perfect CLB baby so I am very familiar with the routines.…

  • Feeding FAQ: 8-12 Weeks – Formula Feeding

At 8.5 weeks my son takes small feeds which seem to lead to disrupted naps I am having problems with my 8.5 week old son’s feeding. My son is not taking on enough milk during the day and we had no weight gain last week, although this has improved this week. He will only take small bottles and seems quite content on them, and is doing well at night. When I feed him he will only take about 3oz and then will wind and then will not take any more. I have tried letting him have a 15 / 20 min break but he still does not feed, often he…

  • Feeding FAQ: 8-12 Weeks – Formula Feeding

My son of 10.5 weeks is still waking in the night and needing a feed. What can I do to push this on? My 10.5 week old son is still waking around 4ish and taking about 4oz. Should I use ‘hungry baby milk’ at 22.30 feed? My son is fussing a bit over his 5pm milk only taking 2ozs, is this alright or should I reduce his 5-6ozs at 2.30pm? He then takes 3/4ozs at 6.15pm. My son feeds at 7.15am, 5ozs, 10.40am 6ozs, 2.30pm, 5-6ozs, 5pm 2-3ozs, 6.15pm 3-4ozs, 10.30pm 5-6ozs, 4am 4ozs. He naps at 9-9.45am, 11.50-2.15pm and 4.30-5pm. If you have to wake your son at 7am…

  • Feeding FAQ: 8-12 Weeks – Formula Feeding

My 10 week old baby who is formula fed and weighs 12lbs 5ozs is still waking for a full feed at 3.00am. She is now losing interest in her 7am feed. I let her wake herself for the 10 pm feed so it can be at 11pm. Do I persist in giving water before her 3.00am feed and should she now be having 6oz feeds in the day? My 10 week old baby who is formula fed and weighs 12lbs 5ozs is still waking for a full feed at 3.00am. She is now losing interest in her 7am feed. I let her wake naturally for the late feed so it…

  • Feeding FAQ: 8-12 Weeks – Breast Feeding

I am wondering if my 9 week old daughter is getting enough breast milk? I am concerned as to if my daughter is receiving enough breast milk. She is generally happy, content and rarely cries, but, during her lunchtime sleep, she usually wakes after 45mins. Sometimes she will resettle, sometimes needs to be fed and is genuinely hungry, despite not wanting to have any more milk at her 10.30am feed. This is our main problem. She also cries very hard as she falls asleep, at each daytime nap, just for a minute or two. She is often quite sleepy after feeds, and has longer daytime naps than recommended. My daughter…

  • Feeding FAQ: 8-12 Weeks – Breast Feeding

For the last 2 weeks after a few minutes of the 6.15pm feed my 8 week daughter starts screaming as if in pain For the last 2 weeks after a few minutes of the 6.15pm feed my 8 week daughter starts screaming as if in pain. We have also noticed a lot more possetting during this period and she has had a lot of hiccups since birth. She has suffered from bad problems with wind since birth so we started infacol with every feed at a week of age which really helped. No other feeds are affected and my diet hasn’t really changed. It means that she scream for up…
